Day 3

We are always pursuing God, and throughout the year there are specific times we unite as a church in prayer.  In these intentional moments, we commit to go deeper with God. We want to know Him better, be refreshed in His presence, understand His will, and gain direction to move forward in whatever He is calling us to do.

We pursue God through prayer, worship, communion, corporate gatherings, and reading the word of God. But at the end of the day, it’s not about the activities we do but the relationship we build. Ultimately, we are pursuing Jesus Christ.

We have been meditating on Ephesians 1:18-20. This passage starts with a prayer that “the eyes of your heart may be enlightened”. Before we go any further, it’s time for a heart check.

Has your heart been affected by the darkness surrounding you? Maybe you’re feeling heavy-hearted, or even broken-hearted, due to the negativity, stress, and disappointment you’ve experienced. Proverbs 4:23 instructs you to, “Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life”. When your heart isn’t in the right place, there’s no life coming out of you!

Prayer is key. P.T. Forsythe says, “Prayer is the atmosphere of revelation”. In prayer, our spiritual eyes are enlightened so we can distinguish truth from lies and light from darkness. Jesus is the light of the world. He wants to heal our hearts and renew our minds and gives us an open invitation to come into His presence.

When we pray that the eyes of our heart would be enlightened, we’re praying for a fresh God perspective on our situation and vision for our future. We want to see what He sees for us and for our world.

Prayer:

Lord, we pray for a heart check today. We ask You to reveal anything that is dark, heavy, burdensome, or doesn’t reflect you. We pray that you would open our eyes to Your truth and Your will for our lives. Help us to see things in a new way over the coming days, we want Your will to be our will!
