Considering Missions?

Missions Is God’s Will

Today's Devotional Scriptures:

Every day we make decisions that we don’t even think about. We choose what we will wear, what we will eat, who we will talk to, and who we will avoid. We buy coffee, TVs, phones, apps, and even cars without praying for God’s wisdom, or really worrying about his will.

Then, when we approach a decision to become a missionary, we are often vexed as to what God would have us do. While the decision as to what role you will play in global evangelism is not always clear, God’s will is very clear: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.” There are so many things in life that we are unsure about, but being involved in the Great Commission is not one of them. It is God’s will that we, as the Global Church, bring His Gospel to all nations. Our involvement is not an option. Whether we serve cross-culturally or not, we must seek to bring the nations to Christ.

Further, in all of the decisions we make every day, we never really know how they will turn out. We might go into a sales job and not sell a thing. We might talk to a potential spouse and be utterly rejected. But God’s mission to the nations is not like that.

God has already determined the outcome: people from every nation, tribe, and language will worship Him forever. God will absolutely, without a doubt, be exalted among the nations. There is no better project to get onboard with. God has given us a task which we know will succeed. As you think through the possibility of becoming a missionary, consider the fact that the Great Commission is life’s only sure bet. Missions is the only career in which we do not have to be afraid to fail. God will bring the nations to His throne, and He will use us to get them there. Amen!

Praise the Lord for…

· the clear call He has placed on the lives of all of His children. Praise Him for deciding to involve you in His plan to save the nations.

· the knowledge that God’s mission to the nations will succeed.

Pray that…

· the Lord would open your eyes to the role that you should be playing in the Great Commission today.

· you would grow in passion for the things that God cares about and in confidence that He will keep His promises.
